CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL AS and A Levels
At the Secondary level i.e., Gr11 and Gr12 Cambridge International AS and A Levels is offered. This is a continuation of the IGCSE examination that the students take up in Gr10. They are part of the Cambridge Advanced stage. A Cambridge International A or AS Level is recognised around the world by schools, universities and employers. The qualifications are accepted as proof of academic ability for entry to universities worldwide. Cambridge International A Levels typically take two years to complete and offer a flexible course of study that gives students the freedom to select subjects that are right for them. Cambridge International AS Levels often represent the first half of an A Level course.

What are AS and A levels?
AS and A levels are the qualifications offered by Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), Cambridge University, London for 16-18 year olds. In India, it is equivalent to Grades 11 and 12. AS levels can be taken as a stand-alone qualification, or as the first part of an A level course. AS levels are completed at the end of Grade 11. A2 exams are added on to an AS level at the end of Grade 12. Together, it completes the A level.
How many subjects should a student take?
Most pupils take four subjects in Year 11. After AS level exams they drop one subject, and continue the other three through Year 12 to complete A levels.What matters most is choosing subjects the child will really enjoy
How are A levels assessed?
AS/A levels are mostly assessed by written exams. In subjects like science and art, practical skills are also assessed. The question papers are sent in from London. The student’s answer scripts are also sent back to London for valuation.
The Cambridge International A Level is reported on a grade scale from A* (highest) to E (minimum required performance). There is no A* grade for Cambridge International AS Levels, which run from grade A to E. Marks are awarded, in addition to grades, for each subject.
When are the AS/A level exams held and the results announced?
The AS/ A level exams can be taken in March, May/June or October/November each year. At Primus, the exams will be taken in March and the results will then be declared in May. This matches the timelines of all Indian Board exams.
Are A Levels recognized?
A levels are the most sought after and recognized qualifications in the world. In India, the A levels have been recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIS) as equivalent to the CBSE/ ISC/ PUC or any other Indian Board Exam for Grade 12.
Are A level students eligible to take Competitive Exams in India?
A level students are eligible for all courses whether professional or otherwise. They are eligible to take all competitive exams like CET, ComedK, JEE, CLAT, NATA, BITSAT………. They can join professional colleges for qualifications like BE, BTech, BArch, Law, CA and MBBS. They can also join undergraduate courses like the BA, BCom, BSc, BBM, BBA and so on.

It helps them to present reasoned explanations, understand implications and communicate them logically and clearly. It gives students an international perspective.

How do I get admission into the A level course at Primus Public School?
Admission into A levels will be based on the student’s performance in the 10th Board exams. Students from IGCSE, ICSE and CBSE are eligible to take up the A level course.
